Skies will remain cloudy on Wednesday, with temperatures in the low 80s and a greater chance of precipitation statewide than Tuesday. Wednesday will see slightly higher temperatures cresting in the mid-80s and, with showers and thunderstorms developing in the afternoon, Simpson said.

Thursday will see a high of 85 degrees and a 70 percent chance of showers in the Boston area. Thursday will see the greatest chance of heavy showers statewide for the week, the weather service said.
