A state trooper was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital on Saturday after a 56-year-old Needham man ran over his foot while fleeing an airport terminal, Massachusetts State Police said. Robert Rizzo became irate and began yelling profanities when the trooper asked him to move his Mercedes-Benz while he was waiting for his wife in the passenger pick-up area at Logan International Airport about 4:15 p.m., according to a statement from the State Police. Rizzo continued the behavior even after his wife arrived, the statement said. When the trooper told him he would be arrested, he fled the scene, running over the man’s right foot in the process, according to the statement. Rizzo was caught by another trooper in the Ted Williams Tunnel and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, disorderly conduct, assault and battery on a police officer, and other motor vehicle violations, officials said.
