State Senator Katherine Clark, who hopes to succeed Edward J. Markey in the US House of Representatives, will have the backing of an important statewide figure when she kicks off her campaign on Saturday. The Melrose Democrat will be joined by Attorney General Martha Coakley, who is endorsing her in the race for the open Fifth Congressional District seat.
“I have been proud to call Katherine Clark a colleague and a friend for many years. Katherine has the conviction to fight for what she believes in, and the ability to bring people together to get things done,” Coakley said in a statement released by the Clark campaign to the Globe. “That is why I endorsed her from the moment she got in this race, and why I believe she will be an outstanding United States Congresswoman.”
