Man falls overboard from ferry in Boston Harbor

Coast Guard rescue crews were searching early Sunday for a man who fell overboard during a cruise in Boston Harbor on Saturday night.

The man fell overboard from the third deck of the Provincetown II at about 10:45 p.m., according to a Coast Guard news release, as the ship traveled near Castle Island in South Boston.

The Coast Guard launched two boat crews, and also sent a helicopter to assist in the search.

“We are using a variety of Coast Guard, State and local agencies in the search,” said Commander Sean Carroll, the search and rescue mission coordinator at Coast Guard Sector Boston. “This is a significant, multi-agency effort.”
