Sanford, Maine, explores theme park

Consultants are spending several days in Sanford to study the feasibility of building a year-round theme park in the southern Maine city. WMTW-TV reported that Sanford resident Allen Mapes and tourism specialist Bill Underwood raised $35,000 to bring the two consultants to Sanford this week. Underwood and Mapes said they envision something different from the usual roller coasters and traditional thrill rides, an adventure park heavily branded to Maine. The city kicked in $5,000 for the study.
