2-alarm fire burns Brazilian restaurant

Firefighters put out a two-alarm fire at a Brazilian restaurant in Abington on Saturday, after struggling to reach the blaze through a thick roof, fire officials said. Additions made over the years had left the roof more than 7 inches thick in some places, compared with the typical 2 inches, said Abington Fire Captain Jack Glynn. He said firefighters responded to the Terra Nossa Center Market, located in the Nisby Plaza on the Abington-Weymouth line, at about 8 a.m., and the last unit left at around 2 p.m. No one was injured, but Glynn said the Terra Nossa Center Market, which is also a grocery store, probably won’t reopen its doors for some time. However, other businesses in the plaza should be able to reopen fairly soon, he said.
