A female spelunker had to be rescued by firefighters after getting stuck in a crevice at a cave in New Milford, authorities said. The woman and a companion were inside Tory’s Cave off Route 7 on Monday afternoon when she went into an 8-foot crevice and could not get out, firefighters told The News-Times of Danbury. Her partner spent hours trying to extricate her before he called for help at about 6 p.m. Four firefighters reached her by inching their way through the narrow passage, but quickly determined they needed more equipment. The spelunkers declined to give their names, but told the newspaper they were from Connecticut and had explored caves around the nation.
