State Senator Dan Wolf founded Cape Air.

A group of Democratic activists from Cape Cod is planning to stage a rally in support of state Senator Daniel Wolf, who has been forced by the State Ethics Commission to either resign his Senate seat or divest his interest in Cape Air, the company he founded.

Wolf has already suspended his run for governor and has said he plans to resign from his Senate seat on Thursday, if the Ethics Commission does not reverse its finding that his holdings in Cape Air violate state ethics law because of the firm’s contracts with MassPort.

The activists are promising to bring “busloads” of Wolf supporters from the Cape to the State House steps on Thursday at noon, and then march to the offices of the State Ethics Commission nearby.

“We are in total dismay at what’s happened to Dan Wolf,” said Arlene Williamson, a Mashpee resident and member of Cape Downwinders, a group that has raised safety concerns about the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station.

Wolf has spoken at the group’s rallies. The Barnstable Democratic Committee is also sending members to the rally, Williamson said.

Wolf, a second-term Harwich Democrat, does not plan to attend the rally, said a spokesman, Matt Fenlon. “It was a totally organic thing by his constituents on the Cape,” Fenlon said.
