A 67-year-old Brockton man fell from a ladder in his backyard and died Saturday afternoon, police said.

Thomas Hyland of 67 Ash St. was found at the ladder’s base by his daughter and granddaughter just after 1 p.m., but it’s not clear whether his death was caused by injuries related to the fall or if medical issues caused his fall and death, said Brockton Police Lieutenant Robert Sergio.

First responders performed CPR at the scene but could not resuscitate Hyland, Sergio said. The medical examiner’s office has been notified.
