Four-year-old attacked by family’s pit bull

A 4-year old Providence boy has been hospitalized after being attacked by the family pit bull. The Providence Journal reported that police Lieutenant Richard Fernandes said the attack occurred about 3 p.m. Sunday in the city’s West End. The unidentified child suffered severe facial wounds and was taken to Hasbro Children’s Hospital, where he was expected to undergo surgery. Fernandes said it was not known why the dog attacked the child. The dog was seized by police and is quarantined. (AP)
