Chefs at the University of Massachusetts Amherst say they set a Guinness World Record by creating a 15,291-pound fresh fruit salad at a Labor Day barbecue, according to a university spokesman. The salad was assembled by celebrity chef Jet Tila of the Food Network, Willie Sng, UMass Amherst’s executive chef, and Oliver de Volpi, head chef at McGill University, who set the previous record last year. The salad was held in a reinforced swimming pool measuring 15 feet in diameter.
