Diossa draws no opponent in Central Falls mayor’s race

Mayor James Diossa of Central Falls has drawn no opponent in his bid for a full three-year term, nearly 11 months after the city emerged from bankruptcy. Diossa formally launched his reelection campaign last month. The former councilor is serving out the term of Charles Moreau, who was sentenced to two years in prison on a federal corruption charge. The deadline to file papers was Friday. Diossa handily defeated Joseph Moran, the former Central Falls police chief, in a December special election to become the city’s first Latino mayor.
