KG Urban applies for Southeastern Mass. casino license

Only one developer submitted the nonrefundable $400,000 application fee for the Southeastern Massachusetts casino license before Monday’s deadline, though the list of competitors is far from final. As expected, KG Urban, which wants to build a casino in New Bedford, met the application deadline, according to the state gambling commission. But KG could still face competition from casino companies currently battling for a license in one of the state’s other two regions or in the contest for the state’s sole slot parlor license. Those competitors were exempt from Monday’s deadline and will be able to compete in the southeast without paying another application fee, if they fail to win the licenses they are seeking.
