Suspicious fire damages Braintree home; one hurt

A suspicious three-alarm fire on Wednesday night injured one resident and severely damaged the rear of a single-family home, fire officials said.

The fire broke out at about 9:05 p.m. in the garage of the home on Liberty Street and spread to an adjacent addition, said Braintree Fire Lieutenant J. Edward Bulger. Damage was estimated at around $150,000, Bulger said.

He said investigators determined that the fire was suspicious. One resident suffered minor burns to his hands and face, but was later released from an area hospital, Bulger said.
