OysterFest to charge for admission

For the first time, the Wellfleet OysterFest is charging an admission fee. The Cape Cod Times reported that fee for anyone over age 12 is $5, or $8 for both Saturday and Sunday. The festival manager said the money will help improve safety and support future festivals. The festival began as a small hometown event in 2002, but it has grown over the years, along with the costs for sanitation, insurance, and paid staff. Attendance recently reached 25,000 over its two-day span.
