Warm and windy today, with rain ending by afternoon

The temperature rose this morning toward the mid-60s in Boston and after the rain cleared up, a warm, benevolent sun smiled down, hardly what you’d envision for mid-November. Tuesday will be a different story.

Temperatures are expected to stay warm through today, while a strong west wind gusts up to 40 miles per hour, according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures will fall into the upper 30s overnight.

The temperature Tuesday won’t make much of a comeback, with daytime highs in the 40s. Under sunny skies, a northwest wind could gust up to 25 miles per hour, adding an edge to the chill. Temperatures will fall into the upper 20s overnight, according to the weather service.

Sunny skies will continue through Wednesday, and high temperatures will hover in the 40s. Skies will cloud up overnight, but no rain is expected. Nighttime lows will fall into the 30s.

Skies will be cloudy Thursday through Saturday and high temperatures will hover in the upper 30s to low 40s. Rain showers are possible beginning Friday night and lasting through Saturday night. If temperatures fall low enough, many of those showers could turn into snow. Sunday should be mostly sunny, with daytime highs in the mid-30s, according to the weather service.

“There is a hint that we could see some white stuff for the weekend, but it will be nothing too significant,” said Charlie Foley, weather service meteorologist. “We keep getting closer and closer to some serious snow. It’s in our future; it is just a matter of time.”
