Former Indian ambassador to US heading to Brown

The outgoing Indian ambassador to the United States and China has accepted a fellowship at Brown University’s Watson Institute. The university announced Monday that Nirupama Rao will begin her one-year appointment in January. Rao served as India’s ambassador to the United States from 2011 to this month. Before that she had served as India’s foreign secretary and has held diplomatic posts in China, Russia, and Latin America. While at Brown, Rao intends to work on a book about the impact of new media on government and deliver a lecture in fall 2014.
