Brandeis alumni, students angry over ex-president’s pay

IRS filings by Mandel Foundation and affiliates

It is not easy to find out how much former Brandeis president Jehuda Reinharz is paid by the Mandel Foundation of Cleveland to be its president. The foundation reported that Reinharz was an unpaid board member and staffers declined to provide his compensation. The foundation and three affiliates at the same address also reported having no paid employees or contractors. But the three affiliates each reported paying consulting fees to Reinharz that totaled $800,000 in 2011.

Reinharz originally declined to disclose his pay. But asked whether the $800,000 figure was accurate, he would only say: "It could be. It could be."
