Westerly police have called in a number of federal and state agencies as an investigation into an alleged credit card scam at a Chinese restaurant has deepened. The Westerly Sun reported that police asked for help from US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the FBI, and the State Police. Chief Edward St. Clair told the newspaper that since the department announced its investigation of China Buffet earlier this month, it has received more complaints about fraudulent credit card charges from people who ate there. He said they are now investigating more than 34 complaints. No one has been arrested. The restaurant's owner did not return calls seeking comment.
