Leicester police have arrested an Oxford man who they say crashed his car into a tree on Watch Street while drunk and in possession of prescription pills.
Officers said they arrived at the accident scene at 10:15 p.m Friday and spoke with David R. Warren, 28, who told them a deer had run in front of his car. Warren’s wife and two children were also in the vehicle, but were uninjured and had walked up the street to their home, police said.
After Warren was treated for minor injuries at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester he was taken to the Leicester police station for booking. During the booking process, police said they discovered several pills — tentatively identified as prescription painkillers — in Warren’s shoe.
Warren was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, two counts of child endangerment, and possession of a Class B substance.
