A tractor-trailer rolled over into the breakdown lane of Interstate 93 in Methuen early this morning, rupturing one of the the truck’s gas tank and leaving the driver with minor injuries, State Police said.
The truck flipped at 5:42 a.m. on the southbound lane of the Interstate 93, a short distance south of the New Hampshire border. Gasoline leaked out of the truck’s ruptured tank, and environmental protection officials were called to clean up the spill. The truck was carrying non-hazardous items, State Police said.
The driver of the truck was treated by paramedics with minor injuries.
Officials removed truck debris from the road before rush hour, but did not begin removing the truck itself until around 9:30 a.m. No lanes were closed during the rush hour this morning.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, State Police said.
