Winter storm looms for the weekend

Cold air moves in today

Dry and cold weather will enter the region today followed by an arctic air mass that will spread over southern New England Thursday and Friday. A coastal storm could bring significant snow and ice for the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

“We will be in the lower 30s today, but Thursday will be the coldest day with temperatures in the upper 20s at best,” said Alan Dunham, weather service meteorologist. “With those types of temperatures, winds don’t have to even be that strong to make it feel like it’s in the single digits to teens.”
