Boston police officers are warning residents about a phone scam in which callers claim a family member has been in a car crash. Police said the caller tells victims they must wire money in order for their relative to receive medical care. No one has been duped by the scam, police said. Several of these calls have been reported over the past four months, according to police, who said officers are investigating the reports. Anyone with information on the calls can contact Boston police anonymously at 1-800-494-TIPS (8477), or text ‘TIP’ to CRIME (27463).
