Christmas party stabbing suspect arrested in Quincy

A Middleborough man wanted for stabbing two people at a Christmas party was arrested Saturday night in Quincy, Middleborough Police said. John Barsell, 52, of 49 N. Main Street, was arrested for allegedly stabbing and seriously injuring two men — 35-year-old Matthew Carreiro and 31-year-old Davin Gordon, both of Middleborough — at 3:01 on Christmas morning during a dispute that took place at a party held at 25 N. Main St. in Middleborough, police said. Both victims have since been released from the hospital. Barsell has been charged with two counts of attempted murder and three counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, police said. He is being held on $50,000 cash bail and is set to be arraigned Monday in Wareham District Court.
