Westfield man dies in Northampton accident

An 84-year-old Westfield man died in a car accident Friday afternoon in Northampton, according to a statement from the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office.

The statement said the driver’s side of his vehicle was badly damaged when it was struck by the front end of a pickup truck at the intersection of North King Street and Elm Street.

Both of the drivers, who were not identified, were transported to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, where the 84-year-old was pronounced dead. The driver of the other vehicle was treated for injuries that were not life-threatening.

State Police and Northampton police are investigating the accident.
