Man killed in Brookfield crash

A 27-year-old Brookfield man was killed in a single-car crash early Saturday morning, Massachusetts State Police said.

At 1:25 a.m., troopers and officers from the Brookfield Police Department responded to a report of a crash on Rice Corner Cross Road and Lake Road in Brookfield, according to a statement.

Emergency responders declared the driver, identified as Jonathan Bemis, dead. Bemis was the only occupant, and no other cars were involved.

Police were awaiting a report from the state medical examiner’s office.
