Two arrested after fight at Cambridge hotel

State Police responded to calls about a fight outside a hotel in Cambridge Tuesday night, and arrested two brothers for assault with a baseball bat, State Police said.

Police arrived at the Royal Sonesta Hotel at about 6:30 p.m. and found two injured men — one with lacerations on his head, and the other with an arm injury, said Dave Procopio, State Police spokesman.

After interviewing witnesses and watching surveillance tapes, the state troopers developed a description of the two alleged attackers and identified the licence plate number of the Toyota Camry in which they allegedly fled, Procopio said in a statement.

Tigran Avetisyan ,28, and Samvel Avetisyan, 30, of Lynn were later arrested for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and disorderly conduct, said Procopio.

Police suspect Tigran Avetisyan’s dismissal from a band he played in with one of the victims sparked the altercation, said Procopio.

The two victims were rushed to Massachusetts General Hospital, where the man with the head injury remains hospitalized. The other victim was released.

Bail for each defendant is set at $10,000 cash. They are being held at the State Police Barracks and are expected to be arraigned Thursday in Cambridge District Court.
