Firefighters battle 2-alarm fire in Revere

Revere firefighters battled a two-alarm blaze this morning in a 2½-story apartment complex across the street from a fire station that closed several years ago, fire department officials said.

Firefighters responded at 6:45 a.m. to reports of a fire at 630-634 Winthrop Ave., calling for a second alarm soon after.

The building’s 10 residents, all adults, were evacuated. One minor injury to a firefighter was reported. The American Red Cross is providing emergency funds for food, clothing, and hotel stays, said spokeswoman Kat Powers.

The state fire marshal and the Revere fire and police departments are investigating the cause of the fire.
