Brockton man charged in connection to fatal stabbing

A Brockton man was charged in connection with the fatal stabbing of another man inside the suspect’s apartment Friday afternoon, authorities said.

Joao DeAndrade, 50, was accused of stabbing Jacinto Correia, 49, according to a statement from the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office.

Brockton police responded to a call at 3:33 p.m. Friday regarding a stabbing at 55 Prospect St., according to the statement. Police said they found Correia inside the first-floor apartment, unresponsive and suffering from multiple stab wounds to his thighs. He was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead.

Investigators said DeAndrade attacked Correia during a disagreement while the two were spending the day together in DeAndrade’s apartment, the statement said.

DeAndrade is to be arraigned Monday in Brockton District Court.
