Amber alert canceled for missing R.I. boy

Rhode Island police canceled the Amber alert for 6-year-old Daniel Britt on Thursday night, after the boy was found safe in Washington state.

The boy was the focus of the nationwide search after his mother Andria Britt, failed to return him to the child father as required by court order, officials said. Sean Britt has legal custody of the couple’s son, officials said.

The mother picked up the boy on Jan. 3 and was scheduled to return the child on Jan. 8, but did not return. When the mother and boy were not located by Wednesday, Rhode Island police issued an AMBER alert.

Officials said tonight that they tracked Andria Britt down to the Seattle area. After conversations with FBI agents, Andria Britt surrendered to authorities.
