Authorities find meth lab in room in Newport inn

A Rhode Island man is in federal custody after authorities say they dismantled a methamphetamine lab in a room at a Newport inn. US Attorney Peter Neronha said Sean Costigan was ordered detained Friday on federal drug trafficking charges. Authorities said Costigan sold meth to undercover officers at least four times last year. On Thursday, police and agents from the US Drug Enforcement Agency searched a room at an unidentified Newport inn that was allegedly rented to Costigan. Inside they found items used to make methamphetamine. Costigan, 51, is a Pawtucket resident.
