A Vermont man convicted of animal cruelty charges has been charged with contempt of court after allegedly buying a new horse. Joshua Johnson, 29, of Lunenburg has pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor charge of contempt and a felony charge of false personation by representing himself as another person when buying the horse. The Caledonian Record reported that Johnson’s contempt charge is related to his 2012 conviction on multiple counts of credit card fraud and animal cruelty. He was accused of neglecting a horse that died. His sentence and probation prohibit him from purchasing or caring for any other animals.
