Woman arrested on drug charges in Cambridge

A Cambridge woman pleaded not guilty to a drug charge today after Cambridge police and US Drug Enforcement Administration officials found “items that they were concerned about” in her apartment Thursday night, Middlesex County prosecutors said.

Police responded at about 9 p.m. Thursday to an armed home invasion at 115 Harvard St., and called the Cambridge Fire Department for assistance upon discovering the suspicious items, Cambridge Police Deputy Superintendent Jack Albert.

“They cleared the scene and said there was no danger to neighboring residents, and investigators came back today to remove some stuff they want to have analyzed,” Albert said.

Albert would not say what materials were removed.

Jan Visterfeld, 43, was arrested as part of the investigation. She was charged with distribution of Class B drugs at her arraignment in Cambridge District Court today, according to Stephanie Guyotte, a spokeswoman for the Middlesex district attorney’s office.

Guyotte had no comment on what drug Visterfeld was charged with distributing.

DEA officials will be at the site for the next couple of hours, Albert said.

Visterfeld was held on $100,000 bail. She is slated to return to court Feb. 27 for a pretrial conference, according to the district attorney’s office.
