Skier dies at Maine’s Sugarloaf resort

A Husson University student died after skiing off a trail into trees at Maine’s Sugarloaf resort, officials said. Carrabassett Valley Police Chief Mark Lopez said the ski patrol and an ambulance crew performed CPR before Stephen Colvin, 21, was pronounced dead Tuesday morning. Colvin, from Hoosick, N.Y., was skiing with other members of the Husson football team. Lopez said Colvin, who was not wearing a helmet, lost control on the black-diamond Hayburner trail and struck several trees in the woods. The last time a skier died at Sugarloaf was January 2012.
