Small quake shakes the earth near New Bedford


A small earthquake shook the earth this afternoon just outside of New Bedford, the US Geological Survey says.

The magnitude 2.4 temblor was centered 1 mile south-southwest of the Southeastern Massachusetts city, the USGS said.

The quake was recorded at 5:46 p.m., the agency said.
