Man allegedly threatened to blow up Boston gas station

Boston EMS transported a man to a local hospital for evaluation after he threatened to “blow up” a gas station Monday afternoon, police said.

Police responded to the Mobil gas station on Southampton Street for a man who was allegedly holding a lighter up to one of the station’s gas pumps at 4:32 p.m. Monday. Officers located the suspect, whose name has not been disclosed, walking along Massachusetts Avenue toward Southampton Street.

Officers frisked the suspect and found a lighter in his pocket. He was brought back to the gas station, where he was identified by witnesses as the man who had threatened to blow up the station.

The suspect’s condition has not been released.
