A simulated G8 summit protest will occur during the filming. Boston police will be on the scene, and traffic detours will be in place. Drivers are advised to avoid the area if possible, police said.

The filming is for a pilot of the television series “Odyssey” a new global conspiracy thriller, according to a posting on the website for the Norman B. Leventhal Park, the green space at the center of the square.
