Man injured when ATV flips, rolls down hill

A man was seriously injured after crashing his all-terrain vehicle in Canton Sunday evening, fire officials said. The accident occurred about 5 p.m. as the man drove the ATV over a hill in the woods behind 40 Industrial Drive, said Captain Ed Freitas of the Canton Fire Department. The vehicle flipped over on top of him, and the victim and the ATV tumbled down the slope, Freitas said. Rescuers initially had trouble reaching the man, who is in his 40s, Freitas said. But they eventually got to him, carrying him about a quarter of a mile to a waiting ambulance, he said. The man was taken to Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton and was expected to survive his injuries, Freitas said.
