Three fall through ice; 2 taken to hospitals

Foxborough firefighters rescued two men who fell through the partially frozen Neponset Reservoir while trying to fish and the woman who tried to help, authorities said. About 3:50 p.m., the woman called 911 then walked onto the ice, trying to rescue the men, said Fire Captain Thomas Buckley. The woman also fell through the ice but climbed out by herself, Buckley said. Firefighters wearing ice suits used a sled to bring the men, who were in the water for about 15 minutes, to shore one at a time, he said. The 41-year-old man was taken by helicopter to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston; while the 60-year-old was brought to Norwood Hospital. The woman declined treatment. Buckely declined to name the three victims and said he did not know why the men were ice fishing. “This is not the time to be out on the ice at all, skating, fishing, anything,” Buckley said.
