Student stabbed at Cambridge Rindge and Latin School

A female student at Rindge and Latin School was stabbed with a kitchen knife during a fight with a classmate this morning at the school, officials said.

The fight between the two female classmates occurred as class was beginning, at about 8:10 a.m., and was quickly subdued by school security and Cambridge police, according to the school’s principal, Damon Smith.

The injured student was transported to the hospital, where she was treated and released. Her name has not been released because she is a juvenile.

The other student, Jasmine Genty, 19, of Cambridge, was arrested at the school by Cambridge police. She faces arraignment in Cambridge District Court on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and carrying a dangerous weapon on school grounds.

The kitchen knife was confiscated by police.

Cambridge police are investigating the fight, and say it was an isolated incident between the two students.
