Scott Brown has hired a former aide to embattled New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.

A former aide to Scott Brown who has since worked for embattled New Jersey Governor Chris Christie will return to Brown’s side to manage his likely campaign for US Senate in New Hampshire, advisers said Friday.

Colin Reed, who was Brown’s Capitol Hill press secretary before serving as communications director for his losing 2012 Senate re-election bid, will lead the staff that Brown has begun piecing together.

Brown is also drawing on former aides to US Senator Kelly Ayotte, having previously hired Andy Leach as a senior adviser and Lizzy Guyton as campaign press secretary.

A Brown adviser said he expected to tap a third former Ayotte aide as political director soon.

Reed has not become as deeply ensnared as other Christie staffers in the scandal over the closing of George Washington Bridge access lanes last September. As a deputy communications director for Christie, Reed was among 18 staffers who were served with subpoenas in January by a legislative committee seeking documents traffic jam related to the case that has rocked Trenton.

Christie has said he had no involvement with the bridge traffic plan, which records show was concocted as a punitive measure by some of his aides. Last week, a report commissioned by attorneys working for Christie’s office cleared him of wrongdoing.
