An elderly man was taken to the hospital Tuesday morning after being struck by a car near Sullivan Square in Charlestown, Boston police said. The man was walking on Alford Street around 11:30 a.m. when a car hit him. He was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital, said an EMS spokesman. The victim’s injuries were considered life-threatening, said police spokesman David Estrada. No further information was available Tuesday. It was the second time a person has been hit by a car in that area recently. A bicyclist died after being struck by a motor vehicle last week.
