The Roxbury Community College athletic center illegally charged public high schools more than $24,000 to host track meets, according to by a report by the state auditor.

The April 9 audit noted that public high schools should have been able to use the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center for free under state law.

In addition, the audit also found the athletic center failed to collect at least $2,400 from private events and failed to collect additional fees from Northeastern University for track meets and other use of its facilities. The audit covered the period from July 1, 2010, through March 31, 2012.
