Police took one man into custody Tuesday night near the Boston Marathon finish line and detonated two backpacks.

Kevin Edson, 25, carried a backpack containing a rice cooker down Boylston Street.
The police bomb squad used a robot to examine a bag left on the road.
A member of the bomb squad inspected the backpack after a controlled detonation.
Edson was arraigned Wednesday in Boston Municipal Court on multiple charges.
The second backpack, originally believed to belong to Edson, has since been determined to have belonged to a local media outlet, police said.
