UMass Boston building evacuated after bomb threat

A person called in a bomb threat at the University of Massachusetts Boston campus this afternoon, but a search uncovered no device, officials said.

Students and faculty were alerted to the threat to Wheatley Hall just before 1 p.m. The building was evacuated.

Boston and State Police bomb squads responded. Bomb technicians and explosives-sniffing dogs searched, but found nothing. The scene was cleared at around 2:45 p.m.

said Jennifer Mieth, a spokeswoman for the state fire marshal’s office.
