DA probing death of month-old baby in Grafton

The Worcester district attorney’s office is investigating the death of a month-old baby girl in her home in Grafton on April 11, according to spokesman Tim Connolly.

“This is an unattended death, we are investigating,” said Connolly. “We are awaiting an autopsy report.”

Aliana Lavigne was found dead in her family’s Upton Street home, Connolly said.

The girl’s family was being investigated by the Department of Children and Families when she died, according to a statement from spokeswoman Cayenne Isaksen.

“The Department received a 51A report on this household and was in the process of conducting an investigation when this tragic incident occurred, and the investigation is ongoing,” Isaksen said in the statement.

The district attorney’s investigation is not criminal, Connolly said. Grafton police declined to comment.

Andrea Lavigne, the baby’s mother, could not immediately be reached for comment.
