Former New England Patriots star Aaron Hernandez, who is awaiting trial for murder, now faces charges in an attack inside the Bristol County House of Corrections in February, prosecutors say.
Hernandez was indicted this afternoon by a Bristol County grand jury, District Attorney C. Samuel Sutter’s office said in a statement.
Hernandez, a former tight end for the Patriots, faces charges of assault and battery and threats to do bodily harm in the Feb. 25 incident.
Hernandez will be arraigned on the charges in Fall River on a future date, prosecutors said.
Prosecutors said they would have no further comment.
