Waterbury principal fired after off-duty events

A Waterbury elementary school principal has been fired after what city officials called a string of embarrassing after-hours events. The Board of Education voted Thursday night to fire Brian Goggin, Bunker Hill Elementary School principal. The Republican-American reported that an arbitration panel had previously determined that Goggin’s conduct compromised the integrity of the school district. Goggin was charged with disorderly conduct in downtown Waterbury nearly a year ago for what police alleged were cases of public intoxication. The charge was later dropped. School officials also issued two warnings to Goggin after they say he was arrested on accusations of drunken driving in 2010 and after he directed disrespectful words at a parent working at a strip club.
