Police detain man who claimed to have bomb in backpack

Police took a man into custody this afternoon after he claimed to have a bomb in his backpack downtown, authorities said.

The Boston police bomb squad responded to 1 Federal St. about 12:40 p.m. after a person called in and reported the incident. They were continuing to investigate, police said.

The man has not yet been charged. No injuries were reported.
