Apparent shot fired into Boston Transportation Department van in Dorchester

A gunshot was apparently fired into a van occupied by two Boston Transportation Department employees early Tuesday, police said. A single shot was reported at 12:44 a.m. near 67 Washington St. in Dorchester, at the same time a projectile struck the van, said Sergeant Michael McCarthy of the Boston police. McCarthy said a man and a woman in the van, both Transportation Department employees in the area to enforce parking restrictions for street cleaning, did not sustain serious injuries but were taken to Boston Medical Center for evaluation. He said police do not believe the van was the target of the apparent shooting.
